FLIGHT Feather Necklace
Sterling silver feather necklace, handcrafted on the Isle of Arran by Jess MacDonald Brass.
Across the world and across centuries, the feather has been considered sacred. A symbol of the sky, of freedom, of the spirit. From the Americas to Asia, from ancient Egypt to the islands of the Pacific- cultures that never met each other still looked at a feather and saw the same thing: something that connects us to what lies beyond.
Today, feathers are still carried as spiritual symbols the world over - found at moments of significance, kept as signs that someone is near.
Look closely at a feather. Pull the barbs apart and it falls to pieces. Slide your fingers back along the shaft and it comes together again-strong enough to carry a bird through the air. Fragile and resilient. Both at once.
"Let me be as a feather. Strong with purpose yet light at heart, able to bend. And, though I might become frayed, able to pull myself together again." - Anita Sams
For the one who carries someone with them. For the one finding their way back. For the one ready to fly.
Each piece comes with a card telling its story. Also available in gold or platinum by special order. Contact me for a quote.

My jewellery is individually hand-crafted or made in small batch production which is hand-finished - this is reflected in the final finish of each piece. This means that it will not be the same as machine made or mass-produced jewellery. Instead, it gives each of my designs a special artisanal touch.
