Lophelia Reef Pendant

Lophelia pertusa is the only reef-forming coral in British waters, and like any reef, it's a habitat- home to fish, sponges and countless smaller creatures that shelter in its structure. Off Scotland, it's been found shallower than it normally grows, above 150m near Mingulay and Barra. Colonies grow outward in rings, each one giving rise to a ring of younger colonies around it.

The balls on this pendant aren't shaped like the coral itself. They're gathered the way the coral gathers, in clusters, built up around the circular pendant.

My jewellery is individually hand-crafted or made in small batch production which is hand-finished - this is reflected in the final finish of each piece. This means that it will not be the same as machine made or mass-produced jewellery. Instead, it gives each of my designs a special artisanal touch.
