Scallop Necklace in sterling silver

The scallop also known as a fan shell, is a marine bivalve mollusk capable of rapidly swimming short distances using jet propulsion created by repeatedly clapping their shells together. This occurence is one of my favourite to witness while scuba diving.

In many cultures across the world, the scallop is symbolic for many reasons.

In Greek mythology, Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty was born from the sea foam and travelled the ocean to the shores of Cyprus on a scallop’s shell.
And, traditionally Camino pilgrims would walk to Santiago and return. The scallop shell, common along the shores of Galicia, was a badge of honour and also proof they visited the city of Saint James.

My jewellery is individually hand-crafted or made in small batch production which is hand-finished - this is reflected in the final finish of each piece. This means that it will not be the same as machine made or mass-produced jewellery. Instead, it gives each of my designs a special artisanal touch.
